Set in 23 acres alongside the River Goyt in Marple, Stockport We are a volunteer led registered charity, a care farm and community garden. We offer supported placements to young adults age 14+ either working with the animals, horticulture, nature connection or maintenance. Our young adults have a range of needs including mental health, disability or long term health conditions, NEET or a risk of NEET, or who have experience of the criminal justice system. We build confidence and life and work skills enabling these young adults to become work ready and reach their potential. We are also open to the public and groups.
We are a Social & Therapeutic Horticulture charity first constituted in 2001. We work in Partnership with a thriving healthy living centre in Wincanton, Somerest. 30 - 40 beneficiaires per week experiencing a wide range of difficulties and disadvantages. 5 trustees all from local community. 8 volunteers, 5 helping maintain the site and physical resources, 3 helping support beneficiaries. Vegetables, fruit and cut flowers are grown, 2 large greenhouses, 1 fully wired for propagation. We have extensive wildlife gardens with large pond. We run activities in local woodlands and on local nature reserves. We work alongside various other partners in Somerset to promote and develop green social prescribing. We also work closely with, and propagate plants for, local grassroots environmental groups. We have new funding via an open mental health grant to run Wildlife Garden Art & Craft workshops and part of this funding is to research connec tion to nature via the 5 pathwways using outdoor crafting of natural materials from the gardens. We are a charity whose services have been rejuvenated thanks to hard working trustees and are growing. We've have gone from 2 employees to 4 within a year. We hope a new young adults practitioner will join us soon subject to funding.
