Digbeth Community Garden
1/10 acre site (20m by 20m) in central Birmingham, near Moor street station and adjacent to Birmingham Friends of the Earth premises. We have once a month volunteer days. The site is being improved broadly according to a permaculture design plan drawn up by a diploma student. We have a patio, stage and social space with upcycled furniture, perennial raised beds with fruit trees, annual raised beds, water harvesting, composting, two adjoined wildlife ponds, some undercover storage and a forested space designated for wildlife. We intend to build a kitchen area, have a more productive and consistent composting system, set up a self watering system, cultivate mushrooms, do some bioremediation experiments and invite people with ideas to use the space. We would like to recruit more volunteers.
