There a three main strands of STAA's work: community engagement, safeguarding the heritage and wildlife on the Grade II listed site, and supporting and representing allotmenteers. The Community Orchard runs educational sessions for local schools as well as community events throughout the year. The Heritage Display Garden, run by volunteers, preserves and promotes the heritage of the allotments. We also run monthly tours of the site, exploring the 75 acres of Victorian detached gardens and 200 years of history. Finally, Urban Nature dedicates several disused plots to precious wildlife conservation on the edge of Nottingham City Centre. STAA also has a Nursery plot, where some of the heritage fruit trees that grow across the site are propagated, and in the future we hope to use this space to engage tenants and other groups with workshops and training.
