We are a charity funded community centre in Brecon, Powys, focussing on health and well-being. We have a very small community garden growing organic veg that we use for various purposes: we give produce to volunteers and foodbank clients (the foodbank is based here), we use it for our own lunch club and healthy cooking clubs and we sell any surplus very cheaply on our honesty table.
We are planning to work with the nearby primary school to let the children develop and insect-friendly space next spring - depending on funding.
We are open to use by other projects such as Powys People First, Brecon Mind etc for their clients to work in the garden for the benefit of their physical or mental well-being.
We accept volunteers doing their Welsh Bacc.
We are happy to teach organic gardening techniques and allow knowledge sharing among volunteers and service users.
We have a large raised bed at waist/wheelchair height to improve accessibility.
We have just completed our third season and have made enough money from sales of seedlings and produce to get through the coming year in compost, seeds etc.
We try to practice permaculture where feasible.
We are governed by Faith in Families - a faith based charity. However, we are by no means a religious centre, and we are open to everyone.
