We are a special school setting for ages 2 to 25 with Severe Learning Disabilities and Autism, based in Lancaster. We currently offer a Green Curriculum, a primary-aged class that accesses the majority of their learning in the outdoors and benefits from additional contact with local green spaces, local nature reserves and animals. This is supporting a research project with University of Salford. We are accredited with Learning outside the Classroom award and are passionate about developing our provision in line with increased research on the benefits of social prescribing for young people with autism, mental health difficulties, attachment disorder etc.
Next year, we are hoping to work with the local council to develop an existing green space to greater serve our school and community, including inter-generational learning.
