The CIC aims to maximise the potential of Fairlands Valley Farmhouse and its setting within Fairlands Valley Park, Stevenage. The property is a registered Asset of Community Value, Grade II listed and although currently owned by Stevenage Borough Council, it wishes to dispose of its liabilities on the property. Subject to funding, the C.I.C. proposes to restore the property with the aim to provide office space and meeting rooms for community organisation at favourable rates, and utilise the farmhouse grounds including its historic orchard as a community resource for education and well-being from primary school age, through adulthood and into retirement. We would plan to open tea rooms for those simply wishing to enjoy the setting, using produces from within the farms grounds wherever possible, but also supporting other local farms. The property also benefits from a C16th inglenook fireplace with bread oven, which we would like to be able to bring back into use.
