BearCat Collective (established 12 years) coordinate family friendly craft workshops, mostly volunteer run, in many parks, gardens, community centres and woodland settings. We work in partnership with local community groups, council play schemes, schools, music events and country fayres and shows. We have a new base for our community SwapShop called The Honesty Jar (since March 2020), at Grassroots independent family-run Garden Centre in Henstridge, Somerset. We are working with the garden centre to create an open access garden space, for drop-in exploring, arranged workshops and event days in a previously disused section of their 10acre site. We currently have 36 regular volunteers and 40-60 visitors per day, six days per week. We have strong links with 'friends of' groups in local hospitals and prisons who signpost people to us for practical resources and community integration. We also work closely with local SEN family support groups and youth clubs, GP surgeries, refugee, homelessness support and the refuge. Profits fund development of resources that we are able to offer; craft & repair workshops, local family friendly events and community mental health training courses.
