Friction Arts
Friction Arts exists to use the arts for social/cultural change, celebration and joy. We do this by providing responsive creative projects, learning, platforms and interactions for a range of diverse people across all age and demographic ranges. We work across Birmingham and the West Midlands, site-specifically and provide a range of yp programmes using arts, culture, music and increasingly environmental focussed projects. We are currently working with The Active Well Being Society (TAWS) and Near Neighbours (NN) to engage communities in a range of well being initiatives; creating bespoke projects with and for people. We're exploring loss, grief, and rebuilding of communities/people as we emerge; our anchor project is 'How Were You?' and 'Home'. 'Home' invites different peoples to share stories about 'home' and 'back home'. This was initiated prior to lockdown and is a signature project with the Commonwealth Games.
