Lakeside Centre Garden provides 10 raised planters to residents who are interested in growing their own food in an allotment-type garden. The garden is overseen by Peabody as part of Making Space for Nature Project. Peabody's gardener in residence offers regular drop-in session on this site for the residents who want to develop gardening skills. The dates and timings can be found on the link below:

Peabody, together with Groundwork and the Mayor of London, is working in partnership with the local Thamesmead community to introduce new ways of using and enjoying our beautiful green space. The parks and public green spaces are a great place to exercise, have a picnic, or just get a bit of fresh air, and we’d like to help you get the most out of them.
As part of our project we manage 4 community gardens across Thamesmead. Their aim is to encourage residents in food growing and gardening activities:
- Birchmere Good Life Garden, Birchmere Park, SE28 8AP
- Hawksmoor Growing Club, Claridge Way, SE28 8AS
- Edible Garden, Maran Way, DA18 4BP
