Under the umbrella of the Whitehall Park Supporters Group we started to develop a community garden as well as a community orchard in our municipal park. We welcome all in our community and work in partnership with the Darwen Asylum and Refugee Enterprise. We support people with mental health issues, leaning difficulties and people who experience loneliness. Our gardening club meets twice weekly and our Little Potting Club (which follows forest school principles) which serves a diverse community of families meets once a week. We are also making extra raised beds and a new entrance for people with mobility needs. We share our produce among the volunteers and sometimes with members of DARE.

Directions:

Whitehall Park lies about a mile south of the town centre of Darwen. The main entrance is on the corner of Queens Road and Cemetery Road (A666). The easiest way to the community garden, the rose garden and the brick cabin is by walking up Queens road, which turns into Whitehall Road. Keep walking until you see a brick building on your left (its the only building) and a sign that says: rose and sensory garden. Hopefully you will smell the roses! At the back of the rosegarden are the steps that lead to our community garden.
