I manage the farm at Walton Hall Academy in Eccleshall. We have a range of animals and birds in our care and are forever updating accommodations in order for them to be able to thrive. Our students access the farm 5 days a week and will take part in various activities such as cleaning, feeding, grooming, health checks, estate maintenance (using tools to improve the area) etc. We have a polytunnel arriving in February with our aim being to start growing our own food for our animals and birds. We are trying to become more sustainable and teach our students where food comes from and how to grow it. All of our animals and birds are kept as pets and students learn how to care for them. We find the farm is also a massive support with our student and staff mental health.
