Across 2024 we’re beginning to imagine a community garden for the former playground and car park of The Old School. We see the garden as a speculative tool to gather, root conversations and creative practice, and grow knowledge and skills for ways to live now. In Spring 2024 we’ll begin Play/Ground – a series of creative workshops for 14-18 year olds to experiment with artistic practices, develop design skills thinking and learn green skills. The group will be working together to imagine and design an element of the community garden. We’ll also be hosting regular sessions for local residents to join therapeutic outdoor activities as the garden takes shape – an opportunity to meet with others in a relaxed social environment and learn new green skills. Over the year, we’ll be convening seasonal community events at Peak to celebrate the seasons and related activities of sowing, growing and harvesting. We’ll be reflecting on our emerging garden, and the work of community-led horticulture and environmental groups and partners, to imagine future seasons within this new, shared landscape.
