Apron helps local communities thrive by creating vibrant natural spaces where people come together to learn, share and grow. As part of our existing offer, we run a series of weekly events at our Apron Community Garden in Buckingham Park, Shoreham-by-Sea and support our local community food bank and community cafe with fresh produce. The Apron Community Farm, Wetland, and Heritage Craft Centre project we are currently developing with support the local communities of Lancing. Our mission is rooted in the belief that creativity serves as a catalyst for positive change. We strive to empower individuals and communities to forge meaningful connections with heritage and culture, foster sustainability, and cultivate resilience in the face of challenges.
Apron has been awarded the 30-year lease of a former equestrian site in South Lancing by Adur and Worthing Council. We aim to create a regenerative community farm, wetland and heritage craft centre for the diverse local community. Neighbouring Widewater and Mash Barn wards are made up of many working class and social housing residents. The farm will address the growing issue of food poverty locally and provide space for residents to connect through growing fruit and vegetables, cooking and nature focussed wellbeing activities.
As we begin develop this ambitions project we are working to deepen local engagement and facilitate co-creation.
