We deliver services aimed at addressing persistent social and economic disadvantages, as well as educational underachievement, within Sheffield’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities—particularly in the deprived neighbourhoods of Fir Vale and Burngreave.
Our work focuses on highly disaffected BME young people who have become disengaged from education, experienced repeated school exclusions, and are often involved in anti-social behaviour, particularly in the North East area of Sheffield.
We offer tailored educational and pastoral support packages designed to build self-esteem, enhance self-efficacy, and develop key social and pro-social skills. Our targeted preventative support includes one-to-one advocacy, focusing on understanding and addressing issues from the young person’s perspective. We also engage families in resolving the underlying issues that may be affecting the young person’s wellbeing and development.
Our programmes are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain relevant and responsive to the needs of the young people we support.
In addition, we run the Project HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) initiative, which supports young people eligible for free school meals. The project promotes healthy lifestyles by providing access to engaging activities and nutritious meals during school holidays.
