This project is at my business premises the Old Brickyard , near Wincanton, Somerset. I have used money from my family and my tent hire business to develop a former brickyard into a space that supports multiple small independent businesses.
The next step is to have the yard become a community space. A blend of local industrial heritage and modern community health through growing beds and possibly a climbing wall area inside and outside and a cafe.
The locale has a connection to the earth through clay and bricks made there, and we have developed the site using natural building techniques like straw bale walls, earth floors and clay plasters. We have held clay plaster workshops there and more natural building courses are planned for 2026.
