I am a sole trader and provide equine facilitated learning for young people within the area. We have ponies on a farm and believe the experience of being in this environment away from the City allows the young people to experience a world that they might not have access to. We are based on a working farm where there are also cows, hens, cats and dogs and are just outside Glasgow. EFL holds an environment of self-discovery for clients with neurodiversity and mental health difficulties, providing a safe space to examine feelings and challenges in a regulated way. I work with the young person and the pony on the ground exploring behaviour, communication, anxiety and mental wellbeing. As the pony mirrors behaviour, working with them promotes self-awareness allowing for personal growth, development, and learning.
