KFCA is the charity the runs Kensington Fields Community Centre, we have been running for over fifty years from our premises in L7.
We have a weekly food pantry & lunch club, signpost to debt & benefits support, run kids after school sessions & holiday clubs, operate a small library, community allotment, deliver cooking education in our new kitchen, and provide a wide range of health & well-being focused activities and services. We also have a long-standing volunteering programme.
OUR COMMUNITY ALLOTMENT
We re-launched our community allotment in 2022 with funding from TNL Awards for All and LCR CA Environmental Fund and have two polytunnels, twelve raised beds, and a container for tools & workspace plus a wildlife pond.
We have a regular group of wonderful volunteers who care for the space. They have been learning horticulture & food production together for the past three years, growing almost every type of British seasonal veg & fruit you can think of. Last year we became members of the National Allotment Society. We have also run three horticulture courses in partnership with Blackburne House and Myerscough College.
The produce we grow is used
- by the volunteers themselves at home
- to cook & eat together at the centre improving social connections and health and wellbeing
- to learn more about plant-based meals
- in meals for our kids club menu and in meals at our weekly over 55s lunch club
- to go into our weekly pantry when there is surplus
In Spring 2026, we have appointment a part time Community Allotment Coordinator who is leading on new growing sessions in the allotment for families & children, more ‘plot to plate’ cooking activities with seasonal produce, and new outdoor activities to boost biodiversity and initiatives to improve our local environment.
