Stainmore Community Orchard and Garden
Our community garden is located in a beautiful rural setting beside Stainmore Parish Hall at Borrowdale Beck in Cumbria.
We have recently planted 12 fruit trees and are developing the site into a welcoming community orchard and garden. Our vision is to create a shared space where local people can enjoy the orchard, harvest fruit, and make use of herbs that we plan to plant in the future.
Surrounded by peaceful countryside and stunning views, we hope the garden will become a tranquil place where people of all ages can relax, meet friends, enjoy nature, or simply sit and appreciate the landscape.
Supporting wildlife is a key part of our project. We are creating meadow areas to encourage wildflowers and pollinators, and introducing insect hotels, bee hotels, natural log piles and other habitats to help increase biodiversity. By working with nature, we hope the garden will become a haven for both wildlife and the local community.
As the project grows, we look forward to involving volunteers, local families and community groups in caring for the orchard, planting, harvesting and enjoying this special shared space for many years to come.
Our community garden is still developing, but thanks to the enthusiasm of local volunteers it is already becoming a valued community asset. We hope it will continue to grow into a place where people can learn new skills, support nature, enjoy the outdoors and share in the harvest for many years to come.
