Inverclyde Community Food Network (ICFN) is a charity dedicated to helping people grow good food, share good food and eat good food. Through our work, we promote wellbeing through gardening, improve health through access to nutritious food and cooking skills, help address the cost-of-living crisis through food sharing, and encourage practical action on climate change.
We support communities across Inverclyde through a range of food-growing initiatives. We work alongside volunteers in seven community gardens, sharing skills, resources and practical support, and have established and deliver hands-on growing sessions in 15 nursery school gardens. Each year we distribute around 300 potato-growing kits to families, schools and community organisations, encouraging people to grow their own food.
We coordinate the redistribution of surplus supermarket food to nursery schools, community groups and local organisations, helping to reduce food waste while supporting people facing financial pressures.
We also deliver plant-based cooking classes and demonstrations, provide soup-bag ingredients and recipes, and host regular free community meals that bring people together around healthy, sustainable food.
