You may have heard in the news, the announcement in the First Ministers Manifesto Pledge of ‘doubling the number of allotments in Wales’ over the next few years. This pledge led to the creation of the ‘Welsh Allotment Regeneration Initiative’ with an investment of £130,000 to fund more allotments which Social Farms & Gardens are taking the lead on. This is an exciting and high-profile project which will have benefits for the Local Councils, Housing Associations, and Community groups that get involved.

Background

Over the last six months, Social Farms & Gardens has been mapping the current provision of allotments. The research revealed many sites in Wales where there are large waiting lists and limited provision. The new funding will target these areas; Gwynedd, Wrexham & Swansea. We hope to get further funding in the future to help more and more Allotment sites in Wales.

The benefits

There is a growing demand for allotment spaces. We know allotments provide huge benefits to physical and mental health & wellbeing. Promoting healthy lifestyles is at the top of the agenda in the longer term fight against COVID-19. With loneliness and mental ill health on the increase, the importance of safe, outdoors community spaces is more important than ever. In addition to this, local, community growing is absolutely key in tackling some of key issues surrounding climate change and biodiversity and will be at the top of the agenda for many people in your community.

Allotment Site Management Toolkit

Social Farms & Gardens have worked with the Welsh Government to produce a range of resources to help ensure local authorities and others involved in the management of allotment sites in Wales maximise the potential of those sites for the local population.

Prosiect Adfywio Rhandiroedd Cymru

Efallai eich bod wedi clywed yn y newyddion, y cyhoeddiad yn Addewid Maniffesto'r Prif Weinidog am 'ddyblu nifer y rhandiroedd yng Nghymru' dros y blynyddoedd nesaf. Arweiniodd yr addewid hwn at greu 'Menter Adfywio Rhandiroedd Cymru' gyda buddsoddiad o £130,000 i ariannu mwy o randiroedd y mae Ffermydd a Gerddi Cymdeithasol yn arwain arnynt. Mae hwn yn brosiect cyffrous a phroffil uchel a fydd o fudd i'r Cynghorau Lleol, Cymdeithasau Tai a grwpiau Cymunedol sy'n cymryd rhan.

Cefndir

Dros y chwe mis diwethaf, mae Ffermydd a Gerddi Cymdeithasol wedi bod yn mapio'r ddarpariaeth bresennol o randiroedd. Datgelodd yr ymchwil lawer o safleoedd yng Nghymru lle ceir rhestrau aros mawr a darpariaeth gyfyngedig. Bydd y cyllid newydd yn targedu'r meysydd hyn; Gwynedd, Wrecsam ac Abertawe. Gobeithiwn gael rhagor o arian yn y dyfodol i helpu mwy a mwy o safleoedd Rhandiroedd yng Nghymru.

Mae'r manteision

Mae galw cynyddol am leoedd rhandiroedd. Gwyddom fod rhandiroedd yn cynnig manteision enfawr i iechyd a lles corfforol a meddyliol. Mae hyrwyddo ffyrdd iach o fyw ar frig yr agenda yn y frwydr yn y tymor hwy yn erbyn COVID19. Gydag unigrwydd a salwch meddwl ar gynnydd, mae pwysigrwydd mannau cymunedol diogel yn yr awyr agored yn bwysicach nag erioed. Yn ogystal â hyn, mae tyfu'n lleol yn y gymuned yn gwbl allweddol wrt fynd i'r afael â rhai o faterion allweddol sy'n ymwneud â newid yn yr hinsawdd a bioamrywiaeth a bydd ar frig yr agenda i lawer o bobl yn eich cymuned.

Pecyn Cymorth Rheoli Safle Rhandiroedd

Mae Ffermydd a Gerddi Cymdeithasol wedi gweithio gyda Llywodraeth Cymru i gynhyrchu pecyn o adnoddau i helpu sicrhau fod awdurdodau lleol ac eraill sy’n gysylltiedig â rheoli safleoedd rhandiroedd yng Nghymru yn manteisio i’r eithaf ar botensial y safleoedd ar gyfer y boblogaeth leol.

Darganfyddwch fwy a dadlwythwch yr holl adnoddau yma.
