Wellsbourne Community Garden
The space we want to turn into a beautiful, health-enhancing, community garden is currently a thoroughfare, with two GP practices, a dentist, a pharmacy, a children’s centre, the library, and a housing estate forming its perimeter. The main primary school for the area is 100m down the road. But the land itself is poorly maintained, badly signposted and has no places where people can stop and relax. The garden will give residents a therapeutic space in which to relax and spend time with friends. It is a response to local calls for the area to be improved, not just for aesthetics and wellbeing, but also for physical access to the Health Centre and other services. Residents have said they value the long-term health and wellbeing benefits of the garden, the opportunity for young children and older adults to do things together, and the chance to grow fresh produce for each other. There will also be major improvements to signage and physical access.
