The Lost Garden of Penicuik is part of the Penicuik Community Development Trust (PCDT). It comprises a Victorian walled garden, terrace and range of glasshouses and bothies which were used from the 1870's until the 1960's to grow fruit, flowers and vegetables. After that, until the PCDT was granted a 30 year lease in 2012, the walls, glasshouses and buildings fell into disrepair. Since 2012, local and international volunteers have cleared the land, grown vegetables for the local community and started the huge task of restoring the garden to its former glory.
