Mount Lodge Care Farm near Ashford Kent, offers the opportunity for young people and adults with additional needs to engage in fully supervised farming related activities. On the small holding we have Sheep, Chickens, Ponies and donkeys and grow a range of vegetable produce and flowers. Produce and eggs are sold on the weekly produce stall run by the users.
Users have the opportunity to work together carrying out meaningful and therapeutic tasks on the farm. Learning to care for the livestock, growing and caring for vegetables and flowers emphasise the importance of healthy eating, hygiene and exercise. Working as a group, the users will improve their social skills, tolerance of others and have an important role within the group and the farm environment. And most importantly meet new fiends and have lots of fun. Rural arts and crafts, carpentry, photography and cookery is also available for users to participate in.
Facilities include; communal meeting area, kitchen/ eating area, toilet and hand-wash facilities, boot wash, ample parking.
All staff are DBS checked.
Mount Lodge is fully insured and risk assessed with all Health and Safety in place.
We are currently working towards the Care Farm UK code of practice.
