The garden was established in 2010 with support from the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) for the first year. The CCF supports communities across Scotland to take action on climate change and move towards lower carbon living. Produce from the garden is not organically certified but is grown according to organic principles without the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Soil is improved with seaweed from local beaches and manure and we use comfrey or seaweed solutions as fertiliser if needed.

We grow a wide range of vegetables and many different varieties of salad leaves chosen for their flavour, texture and colour. In season we sell soft fruit (strawberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, raspberries and gooseberries) and there is a small developing orchard. We provide fruit and vegetables to local hotels and shops, run a veg box scheme for the local community and tourists have a bi-weekly stall at the local Producers Market.
