Eden Alley - communal vegetable garden & alleyway transformation

Eden Alley is an alleyway which was transformed during lockdown with the help of the neighbours. Our aim is to make the length of Eden Alley a clean, colourful and welcoming space for everyone that lives here, with the addition of a communal vegetable garden at the bottom end of the entry with raised vegetable and flower beds.

Here the community can get together to help sow, grow and pick vegetables with our ethos being 'from soil to plate'. We would also like to build some benches in the communal area and along the alleyway so the neighbours can get together and socialise but be spaced out if they wish. By doing this we hope to create a biodiverse environment which we can sustain among our community.

Our overall goal is to encourage our local community to take pride in the area where we live, to discourage fly tipping and vandalism in this space and to make it a safe fun and friendly space for all the neighbours to use. The communal vegetable garden will provide home-grown foods for the community to use as part of a balanced diet, without paying supermarket prices. All ages will be involved which will benefit the younger generation in learning about about nature and the importance of our ecosystem and creating a sustainable environment.
