We are a young small animal sanctuary and nature reserve on 20 acres with 38 rescues, mostly horses and ponies. The horses all live out 24/7 as natural a life as we can create for them; in a stable herd, never ridden or used. We are on the way to self sufficiency food wise and each year try to improve our veg growing from saved seeds. I (Maria Olarte - founder and manager) also am a qualified counsellor, trauma therapist, animal assisted therapist (levels 5 and 6) and currently on an advanced emotional regulation course. I offer these skills in an ecopsychotherapy package in which some of the sessions are conducted outside in the veg garden, amongst the animals and over 1000 trees we have planted. I have worked with military veterans in the past and along with community projects, plan to make this an offering here. We have part built stables which I want to try and apply for a grant to convert into a classroom and toilet/kitchen facilities so we can properly welcome workshops and therapy groups.
